During this period the Jewish population of Poland enjoyed unprecedented prosperity and privileged status, but the cold winds of change were already in the air. The historical background, the political climate and the descriptions of Krakow are all authentic. This volume, like The Promised Child, deals with a critical period in the lives of the fictitious Pulichever family.
