The Silent Summer is the fourth volume in the series of junior fiction entitled "The Girls of Rivkah Gross Academy". In The Silent Summer, the girls go to summer camp where they become involved in some startling developments. The puzzling events begin when Bracha and Sara overhear an old lady named Tante grumbling about diamonds in her garden. Tante lives in a cottage on camp grounds, but she keeps to herself. Cars come and go at all hours of the day and night, and strange noised can be heard through the window of her cottage. The girls find the mystery very absorbing and exciting. At the same time, the girls become involved with a young girl who has not spoken a single word for many years. They take her along with them on their chessed projects, hoping that by doing so they will be able to get through to her and get her talk again. But they certainly could not have anticipated the unexpected outcome of their efforts and activities.
